The University Clinic for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy ("KJPP") at Oldenburg Hospital treats children and adolescents with psychiatric and psychosomatic illnesses. The clinic has a protected, closed acute admission ward, an open psychotherapy ward for children and an open psychotherapy ward for adolescents, a day clinic for children and an outpatient clinic for adolescents.
The research devision of the University Clinic for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy at the University of Oldenburg is particularly concerned with the areas of addiction disorders in adolescence and trauma disorders in children and adolescents as well as the investigation of the consequences of prenatal stress for the child. In addition to the development and evaluation of preventive and psychotherapeutic programmes for children and adolescents, the focus is also on investigating the role of neurobiological mechanisms in the development and maintenance of mental illnesses.
