University Institute for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology

The University Institute for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology offers the entire spectrum of radiology at Oldenburg Hospital. Using the latest technology (X-ray, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, mammography), the referring clinics (including surgery, gastroenterology, oncology, urology, trauma surgery, ENT, pediatric clinic) are provided with comprehensive diagnostic radiology services. A comprehensive range of cardiac and vascular imaging is offered for the University Clinics for Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, including coronary vessel diagnostics and planning imaging prior to the implantation of transcatheter aortic valves (TAVI). Comprehensive breast imaging (sonography, mammography including tomosynthesis, breast MRI) as well as tomosynthesis-guided vacuum biopsies and tumor wire marking prior to breast surgery are provided for the local breast center. In addition, we participate in numerous interdisciplinary tumor boards.

The focus of interventional radiology procedures includes local ablative navigated therapy procedures on the liver, minimally invasive pain therapies on the spine, image-guided biopsies and drainage systems. In addition, there is a focus on the treatment of patients with peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD), the implantation of venous port systems, minimally invasive embolization of arterial bleeding, the treatment of congenital vascular malformations, the creation of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts (TIPS), liver treatment procedures (transarterial chemoembolization, TACE) and the endovascular treatment of aortic aneurysms.
