Welcome to the website of the University Institute of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine. Laboratory medical examinations are required for almost all patients during the treatment process. From a simple blood count or blood sugar measurement to complex examination methods to determine the concentration of hormones or tumor markers, we offer a comprehensive range of analyses to meet all medical requirements. As part of our patient-oriented immediate diagnostics, we take care of blood glucose measurements and blood gas measurements on the wards.
In addition to blood, numerous other body fluids are also examined, such as urine, cerebrospinal fluid - also known as liquor - or punctates from joints or body cavities. Microscopic examinations of cells are carried out, gel systems are used to analyze proteins and much more. The results of the analyses, which are assessed by specialists, provide clinicians with important information for diagnosis and therapy monitoring.
We support researchers - both internally and externally - in conducting their clinical studies with tailored advice on pre-analysis, the performance of analyses and the proper preservation of samples. As part of our research, we offer analytical services from the smallest sample volumes for epidemiological cohorts, among others.
