"Career paths in Science, Medicine and Technology” offers you the chance to meet OLTECH alumni and other role models, to hear from their experiences, and to interact with them. You will learn about a variety of career paths and get insights into different areas of work, in particular jobs outside of academia. Our guest speakers will talk about their current position, the moves that got them there, the relevance of skills acquired during their doctoral studies and will be ready for your questions.

Dr Beena Punnamoottil completed her PhD in 2008 in Oldenburg in the field of neuro- and developmental genetics.
As part of her PhD she spent 2 years at the Sars International Center for Marine Molecular Biology in Bergen, Norway. Afterwards she went to the Brain and Mind Research Center in Sydney, Australia for 1 year. Upon her return to Germany in 2010, she started as a project manager at a contract research organization, Chimera Biotec GmbH, in Bremen. In 2020, she returned to the UOL as a research officer for medical research. In addition to her work at the UOL, she is involved in pharmaceutical cancer research as VP for global proteomics at the contract research organization Assay Engineers GmbH.
