The members of the IT team deal with issues related to the introduction of IT systems. Such procedures are addressed in § 64 of the regulations of Lower Saxony (NPersVG) and are thus subject to negotiation with the Staff Council since the personal rights of employees from the dangers of anonymous monitoring techniques have to be protected. In particular, IT systems allow the employer to monitor the performance and behavior of employees, independent of whether the employer actually intends to do so or not (what counts is that IT systems can be used for such purposes).

Our team supports and assists both the institutions wishing to introduce a new IT system and the departments of the university involved (IT services, Data Protection and Information Security Unit) in negotiating service agreements. We advise our colleagues, engaging in the selection process of IT systems and discussing any issues with data protection, data minimisation or GDPR guidelines.
