Hardship provision

Hardship provision at the Institute of Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation

Preferential consideration of students when allocating places on courses

When allocating places on courses at the Institute of Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation, students who report and enrol for one of the so-called hardship reasons are given priority.

Students who can prove and prove a case of hardship are entered on an anonymised list in Stud.IP and are given priority in the allocation of places in the registration process.

In order to make use of the so-called hardship provision, an informal application and participation in the registration procedure via Stud.IP (indication of priorities) is required.

In order to be considered for the allocation of places, the proposal must be submitted at least three days before the allocation of places.

Criteria and proof

1. serious long-term illness or disability
Proof: e.g. current certificate from the doctor stating the duration of the illness, severely disabled person's pass

2. caring for a child up to the age of 14 in your own household
Proof: e.g. birth certificate of the youngest child

3. caring for close relatives (parents, parents-in-law, spouse, partner, siblings or children)
Proof: e.g. certificate from the health insurance company about the care and the effort to be made

4. students of a cooperative subject at the University of Bremen
Proof: e.g. enrolment certificate

Please note: An academic appointment cannot be recognised as a reason for hardship.

Application

To make use of the so-called hardship provision, an informal proposal (with the corresponding proof as a scan or photo) must be sent by email to [email protected].

In order to be considered for the allocation of places, the proposal must be submitted at least three days before the allocation of places.

In addition to the application, participation in the registration process via Stud.IP (prioritisation) is required.

Please note: There is no general entitlement to consideration of the hardship application, but is dependent, among other things, on the available capacities in the courses.

Allowances for special needs

Allowances for special needs in studies and examinations can be granted due to a disability or chronic illness or due to caring responsibilities (raising children, caring).
