Gesine Buurman M.Sc.
Gesine Buurman studied Liberal Arts and Sciences (B.A.) at the Amsterdam University College with a focus on health, social and political sciences and subsequently completed a Master's degree in Health Services Research (M.Sc.) at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. As a student assistant in the research project The Use of Closed Doors in Dementia Wards at the University of Oldenburg and the University of Groeningen, she addressed ethical aspects of the use of freedom restrictions in residential dementia care. Besides this, she worked as a student assistant in the BASE research project (Reducing barriers to rehabilitation in the face of a requested application) and completed modules in the certificate degree program in medical ethics at the University of Hagen. As of July 2025, she is part of the interdisciplinary HEARAZResearch Training Group funded by the DFG. In the sub-project K3 Networked assistance and value pluralism: User perspectives of technical assistance systems in the context of cognitive impairments, her research focuses on the ethical evaluation of stakeholder perspectives on the development and application of hearables.
