Project Title: DiVerso – Diversity-Conscious Healthcare for Rural Areas

How diversity-conscious are healthcare providers in rural areas when it comes to patients with different needs based on gender, social background or ethnic unit? The scientists in this booster unit will assess this from an interdisciplinary perspective encompassing healthcare science, cultural studies and the social sciences. Their research will focus on three scenarios: live-in home care for the elderly, inpatient care in the mental health sector and approaches in technology-assisted care such as telemedicine. 

The team plans to conduct interviews with providers and patients, hold group discussions with stakeholders and perform analyses of public and academic debate to gain a comprehensive overview of ideas and attitudes regarding diversity in rural healthcare. This study will serve as a basis for developing concepts for diversity-conscious healthcare in rural areas.
