Dear colleagues and supporters,

in relation to the upcoming amendment to the Higher Education Act of Lower Saxony, there is the public letter to the state government written by representatives of the academic staff and the Staff Council of the University of Oldenburg. It addresses the demands related to improvement of the employment conditions for academics who are in their early career. Please view the letter in full length here [German | English]:

Our demands briefly:

• Implementing (independent) permanent positions in the non-professorial academic staff in the Higher Education Act!
• Appropriate and appealing contract conditions for fixed-term qualification positions!
• Increase of the proportion of independent academic work in fixed-term (qualification) positions (50% of the working time!)
• Restricting the teaching staff (LfbA) to teaching practical skills and knowledge!
