PROMOS Scholarship for internships abroad
This DAAD-funded programme aims to promote practice-related stays abroad for students at German universities. Students from all disciplines can apply via this funding line for a scholarship for an internship supporting their studies and taking place outside Europe. Both compulsory internships and voluntary internships with a minimum duration of four weeks can be funded.
The application period for PROMOS scholarships opens twice a year:
- Scholarship applications for stays abroad starting between 1 January and 30 June need to be submitted by 30 September of the year before.
- Applications for stays abroad starting between 1 July and 31 December need to be submitted by 31 March of the same year.
Application requirements: Funding line
Only students on Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programmes are eligible for funding. The duration of the internship must be at least four weeks and at most six months. Scholarship holders receive a partial scholarship instalment for a maximum of two months as well as a one-off country-specific travel allowance (recipients of international BAföG do not receive the travel allowance).

Funding conditions
- The internship must cover a period of at least four weeks, and this must be proven by submitting written confirmation of the arranged internship. Students also require approval from their school confirming that the internship abroad will be supervised and recognized in Oldenburg.
- Internships can also be funded in the period between completing a Bachelor’s degree and starting a Master’s programme. In these cases, pre-admission to a Master’s programme or a similar document from a German university must be available.

- Please send all applications for internships at EU institutions, at institutions and organisations that administer EU programmes, at German diplomatic missions abroad, and at German humanities institutes directly to the DAAD.
- Teacher training students seeking to complete a school internship abroad should also send their applications directly to the DAAD (Programme: Lehramt.International).
Application: two steps

Step 2: Upload your application documents to the university’s Cloud Storage:

You must submit the following documents:
- pdf-application form for internships (fully completed and signed)
- Curriculum vitae (in tabular form; may be in German or English)
- Letter of motivation (max. 2 pages; may be in German or English)
- Current academic record stating your average grade (as a Stud.IP printout)
- Previous academic record (only if there are less than 3 results in the current record)
- Current certificate of enrolment
- Internship approval from your school
- Confirmation of internship from the provider
- Proof of voluntary work (brief official confirmation of duration and scope suffices; self-documentation of volunteering cannot be accepted)
- Language certificate (for the working language to be used)
