Presenting student research
forschen@studium offers students (of bachelor’s, master’s and state examination programmes) the opportunity to present their research findings at conferences outside Europe. Travel expenses (travel and accommodation costs in accordance with the guidelines of the Lower Saxony Travel Expenses Ordinance (Niedersächsische Reisekostenverordnung) and conference fees) can be reimbursed on a pro rata basis. Further information can be found under Funding and support for lecturers and students.
Some examples of student research projects are featured in our Research-based learning showcase.
Conference for Student Research
The Conference for Student Research (StuFo) is a unique forum offering students from across Germany the opportunity to present their interdisciplinary research.
The first nationwide StuFo was launched at the University of Oldenburg in June 2016. Aiming to make student research visible across regional and disciplinary boundaries, StuFo quickly became a fixture in the German higher education landscape.
Since then, the conference has been held in various locations, including Berlin, Bochum, Kiel, Hamburg, Hohenheim and Friedrichshafen. Every year, whether lasting one or two days, it brings together research-enthusiastic students from a wide range of disciplines, promoting scientific exchange and creating valuable networks.
A particular highlight was the 10th anniversary celebrations on 17 and 18 June 2025, which took place once again at the conference's birthplace, the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. Under the motto 'Together towards the future – Discovering new horizons', the focus was on innovative ideas, interdisciplinary perspectives, and looking to the future.
