forschen@studium

forschen@studium is an initiative that promotes and supports activities related to research-based learning at the University of Oldenburg. This includes the funding programme Forschendes Lernen (Research-Based Learning) with grants for teaching and student research projects on an interdisciplinary topic that changes every year. Funding for participation in conferences or material costs for implementing student projects is also available.

At the University of Oldenburg, our main goal is to intertwine research and teaching very closely. This aim features in the teaching mission statement, which recognises research-based learning as a central aspect of academic education.

Further information on the understanding of research-based learning can be found on the Why research-based learning? and in the university development plan (only in German).

Teaching and Learning in Higher Education

The team at Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (Hochschuldidaktik) supports lecturers in implementing research-based learning within their school and their own courses.

UOL's research-based learning journey

Two university-wide teaching and learning projects lie at the heart of forschen@studium and constituted the starting point for its further development at the University of Oldenburg: FoL+ (Research-Oriented Teaching Plus, 2011–2019) and FLiF+ (Research-Based Learning in Focus Plus, 2011–2021). Both projects have contributed to anchoring research-based learning at the University of Oldenburg. You can find out more about these projects as well as the events and teaching projects within the schools and laboratories that were funded during the project cycles on the page Looking Back: FLiF+ and FoL+ Projects.
