INSTEP Study preparation for international students
As part of the INSTEP study preparation programme, we offer German courses and workshops to help you prepare for your studies. You will also have the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the campus and study programmes in Oldenburg. The programme concludes with the German Language Test for University Entrance (DSH).
Who can take part?
Prospective international students who would like to study a degree programme taught in German at the University of Oldenburg can take part in the INSTEP study preparation programme. They will be enrolled as regular students for this purpose. Refugees are entitled to take part in the programme as guest students.
How can you apply?
You apply for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme via uni-assist. Refugees can also apply directly for the INSTEP study preparation programme via uni-assist.
Please apply no later than 15 January for the summer semester and 15 July for the winter semester.
What are the requirements?
- You have at least A2/B1 level German.
- You have successfully applied via uni-assist.
- You have to pass the German language entrance examination.
Please note that there are limited places and we cannot guarantee you a place in the INSTEP study preparation programme.
FAQs
How much does it cost to take part in the INSTEP study preparation programme?
You will pay the standard semester fee for enrolment. There are no other fees. We can register refugees as guest students and exempt them from all costs.
Can I also apply directly for the INSTEP study preparation programme?
You can only take part in the INSTEP study preparation programme if you have previously applied via uni-assist.
Can I still take part if I have no/insufficient knowledge of German?
The study preparation programme starts at B1 level. You must therefore have at least reached A2 level.
How long does the study preparation programme last?
If you start with B1 or B2, the study preparation programme lasts two semesters. If you start with C1, you only need one semester to complete the course. In exceptional cases, it is possible to resit the German course. This means attending the course for an extra semester.
I would like to study a degree programme taught in English. Can I still benefit from study preparation services?
