According to the examination regulations, the decision on your application for recognition is made by the responsible examination board:

„The competent Examining Board shall decide on the recognition of previous examination results or accreditation of skills acquired outside higher education at the request of the student. The request must be made to the Examinations Office.  […]“

As a rule, however, the decision on recognition is delegated by the examination board to a so-called ‘subject representation’. This person reviews the content of your application and makes a decision.

The tasks of the subject representative and those of the departmental ERASMUS Coordination can be performed by different people. The most important difference between the two is that the departmental ERAMUS coordinator is not authorised to decide on recognition.

We therefore recommend that you discuss the possibility of recognition with your responsible subject representative before your stay abroad. Document these discussions and submit the documentation with your subsequent application! You can use our counselling form for this purpose.
