1. Enrolled Students
1.1 Change of surname
You can apply for registration of your new surname if it has changed due to marriage, adoption, divorce or other official/legal changes.
To submit an application for a change in personal data, go to Stud.IP and click on Study data > Change my personal data > Submit new application > Reason: new family name/surname, and upload proof of your name change.
1.2 Additional forename
If you have several forenames and want them to be included in our student system, you can apply for forenames to be added.
To apply for a change in personal data as an enrolled student, go to Stud.IP and click on Study data > Change my personal data > Submit new application > Reason: Forename - Add, and upload proof of your name.
1.3 Name or gender changes according to the UOL Guideline
Change of forename
If you are a trans*, inter* or non-binary student, you can apply to change your official forename to a chosen name in Stud.IP under Study data> Change my personal data > Submit new application > Reason: Forename – UOL Regulation. Upload your supplementary ID card from the dgti (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Transidentität und Intersexualität e.V.).

Changing your gender entry
You can also request a change to your gender entry. Again, you must present the dgti supplementary ID card stating your chosen gender. To change your gender entry, go to Stud.IP and click on Study data > Change my personal data > Submit new application > Change gender – UOL Guideline.
Documents with new name
Subsequently, your altered personal data will appear on all University documents, including your graduation documents (certificates, reports etc.).
After the Admissions Office has received and examined your application, you can generate the updated documents in Stud.IP.
If your graduation documents have already been issued, you can apply for duplicates with the altered data. Please request this in the comment field of your application. You must send the original copies of your "old" graduation documents to the SSC InfoDesk or the Admissions Office. The address is:

Email address
When your application is approved, a new university email address will automatically be created for you. The previous email address will be linked to the new one. If you wish your previous email address to be deleted, please contact IT Services.
Updating your CampusCard
When you submit your application, a new CampusCard will be issued free of charge. Printing of the new CampusCard will be arranged immediately after reviewing your request(s). Please be sure to have any credit on the old card paid out by the cafeteria cashiers before submitting your request, as any existing balance will be forfeited when the new card is printed.
Using your CampusCard in the library
At the start of their study programme, all students receive a CampusCard, which also can also be used as a library card. Activating this function requires a one-off online registration. Use the University ID (in the format abcd1234 plus password). Then present the CampusCard once to the User Service desk in the library and sign the registration form.
1.4 Name and gender changes under the right to self-determination
Change of forename
If you are a trans*, inter* or non-binary student, you can apply to change your forename in Stud.IP under Study data> Change my personal data > Submit new application > Reason: Forename – Self-determination act. Please also submit your entry in the altered civil registry.
Changing your gender entry
You can also request having your gender entry changed. Here again, you must present your altered civil registry entry. To change your gender entry, go to Stud.IP and click on Study data > Change my personal data > Submit new application > Gender – Self-determination act.
Note: In accordance with the disclosure ban, applications and uploaded documents are irrevocably deleted after processing and approval.

2. Former students/alumni
2.1 Name and gender changes under the right to self-determination
If you are a former student/alumnus, you can apply for a change of forename and gender identity by email or using the appropriate form and presenting the new entry in the altered personal status register.
You can send this proof by mail, post or using a cloud folder provided by the UOL for this purpose.
Documents with new name
Any already issued graduation documents can be reissued if you wish. Please send your request in writing. You must send the original copies of your "old" graduation documents to the SSC InfoDesk or the Admissions Office. The address is:
