Doctoral candidate centre of the institute of Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation (DOZ)
1. Aims
The Doctoral candidate centre (DOZ) is an interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary institution of the C.v.O. University of Oldenburg for the promotion of young academics. It was established by the University Senate in December 1998 and has since continued to exist under the responsibility of the Institute of Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation of School I - School of Educational and Social Sciences.
With the close co-operation between university lecturers from the University of Oldenburg and colleagues from other universities, the DOZ takes a productive approach to the promotion of young academics.
2. Tasks
Within the framework of the DOZ, topics associated with the research field of "Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation" are represented in a wide range of programmes. It is intended to enable participating doctoral candidates to
- to place their dissertation in a broader thematic context in order to counteract possible overspecialisation;
- expand their qualification profile beyond the dissertation with regard to relevant aspects of content and research methodology;
- to receive feedback from colleagues beyond their supervisors,
- practise a broad scientific discourse and
- to acquire further relevant key qualifications.
3. University teachers
Professors who are assigned to the Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation Doctoral candidate centre undertake to actively participate. This means, among other things, that they agree to
- to present supervised dissertations for discussion within the framework of the DOZ,
- participate in the development and presentation of content-related and research methodological qualification programmes and
- endeavour to raise funds for the DOZ.

In principle, all university teachers associated with the DOZ are available to advise DOZ doctoral candidates.
Interested students or graduates can work at the DOZ as guests for a limited period of time.
5. Regulations of the Doctoral candidate centre
