Curriculum
The MSc Neuroscience requires 120 ECTS for graduation, which means 2 years full-time of study. Whilst graduation in 2 years is completely achievable, many students opt to spread the workload over 5 semesters (2.5 years).
No specific course is mandatory for graduation, however the curriculum is built from specific types of modules. Each student should attain at least:
- 30 ECTS from Neuroscience background modules – these are full time block courses or intensive modules that build up key knowledge in the neuroscience space.
- 15 ECTS from a research module – an individual neuroscientific research project with a lab in Oldenburg (external options are also available).
- 6 ECTS from Neuroscience skills modules – these are courses which build upon specialised techniques within Neuroscience (for example, microscopy or coding).
- 9 ECTS from any other Neuroscience based modules
A further 30 ECTS come from a free choice of modules either within the Neuroscience curriculum or from other related MSc programmes (such as MSc Neurocognitive Psychology, Biology, or even the University of Bremen’s MSc Neuroscience). 6 ECTS can come from a language course.
The final 30 ECTS come from the Master’s thesis.
