Studies in the 1st semester always begin in the winter semester (October 1 of the year). Admission to a higher semester is possible in both the summer and winter semesters.

Special admission requirements
If you are planning on studying at a German university, you must prove that you are authorised to do so on the basis of your previous school or vocational education – i.e. that you have a higher education entrance qualification.
1st semester – Germans, EU citizens, EEA* citizens, non-EU citizens and stateless persons German university entrance qualification
The following information is based on the regulations of the state of Lower Saxony:
Medicine - Studying with and without Abitur (German only)
1st semester – Germans, EU citizens and EEA* citizens Foreign university entrance qualification
In addition to the higher education entrance qualification, proof of German language skills is required.
1st semester – non-EU citizens and stateless persons Foreign higher education entrance qualification
In addition to the higher education entrance qualification, a TestAS certificate and proof of German language skills are required.
Higher semesters – any nationality and higher education entrance qualification
In addition to the higher education entrance qualification, proof of a corresponding level of performance is required. If you do not have a German university entrance qualification, proof of your German language skills is also required.
In the case of dual citizenship, German/EU/EEA* citizenship always takes precedence.
*EEA = European Economic Area. According to Hochschulstart, this includes the following countries from the EEA in addition to EU countries: Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway.
The Medicine – State Examination degree programme is admission-restricted. This means that only a limited number of study places are available. Admission is therefore only possible if places are available and your application achieves a sufficient ranking. |

Admission process
You must apply through the 'Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung' Hochschulstart.de (in German). More details on the website of Medicine .There is currently no on-site selection procedure for the model degree programme in Human Medicine at the University of Oldenburg.
