The University of Oldenburg's advisory services address the diverse, individual concerns of many different target groups to help them live, learn and work well at our university. All of them aim to align their actions with the concerns of those seeking advice.

Depending on the assignment, the advice provided can include information, specialist and methodological knowledge ("expert advice") as well as initiate and accompany complex self-clarification processes ("process advice" - counselling). Transitions between these forms of advice can be fluid. Those seeking advice can be confident that their advisors know their limitations and will refer them to competent colleagues when necessary. Our advisors always aim to empower those seeking advice to make decisions and take appropriate actions.

Counselling is voluntary, confidential and open-ended, and the attitude towards those seeking advice is characterized by interest and appreciation. This service is free of charge and easily accessible. Communicating the scope of the consultation transparently is important to us.

In order to ensure service quality even for complex issues, the advisors regularly exchange information. At the same time, they work to ensure that information on the responsibilities and the expertise of the advisory services, the student body and Studierendenwerk Oldenburg is up to date.
