Welcome to the website of the Working Group for Sociological Theory

The working group researches and teaches in the field of sociological theory and represents a broad and application-oriented understanding of theory. In teaching, we provide an overview of the multi-paradigmatic theoretical diversity of the subject and offer various options for specialization. In research, we work on fundamental questions of social theory and on the combination of theoretical and empirical perspectives in the fields of the sociology of knowledge and cultural sociology. As part of the “Fiction Meets Science” network, a transdisciplinary social and cultural science analysis of science communication is being developed.
