This year's International Winter School is dedicated to a central topic for schools and teaching: Language-sensitive teaching and multilingualism.
Over the course of two intensive days, participants can look forward to a variety of innovative seminars organized by teachers and students from Nelson Mandela University, the University of Groningen, NHL Stenden and the University of Oldenburg. These seminars provide practical insights into teaching and research and make prospective teachers aware of classroom situations in which the native language of many pupils differs from the language of instruction.
Topics include:
- How can teachers deal appropriately with linguistic diversity in the classroom?
- How can language barriers be broken down and learning processes be facilitated?
Another focus is on how language can be used to highlight the positive aspects of diversity and ensure that all students feel equally seen, valued and included. This is also an essential component of language-sensitive teaching.
Taking part
Student teachers from all four partner universities are cordially invited to take part in the Winter School.
