In a guest lecture, Sebastian Dunst and Hendrik Rüdebusch from RSM Ebner Stolz in Bremen gave the students of our Financial Accounting bachelor course exciting insights into the day-to-day work of auditors. The focus was on key aspects of international accounting, in particular the provisions of IFRS 15 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers) and IFRS 16 (Leases). Using practical examples, we discussed the application and significance of the standards for companies. In addition, the general role of auditing was highlighted - from ensuring reliable financial information to building confidence on the capital markets. The event not only provided students with in-depth specialist knowledge, but also a direct link to professional practice.
