ICBM PhD Day

“Transparency in Science and Research” was the motto of the 8th ICBM PhD Day on June 16, 2025.

“Transparency in Science and Research” was the motto of the 8th ICBM PhD Day on June 16, 2025 at the HIFMB in Oldenburg.

On this day, more than 40 doctoral candidates came together to discuss current research projects. The event offered the opportunity to learn about various topics such as “Grant Writing and Research Funding” with Dr. Anne Clausen and “AI and Big Data” with Prof. Dr. Thilo Gross.

The event was organized by a group of early career stage researchers and the topics and program were tailored to the needs and interests of the PhD students. For example, various breakout groups offered in-depth discussions on topics such as “Building A Strong Research Network” (Prof. Dr. Mandy Roheger), “Mental health - overcoming challenges during the doctoral thesis” (Julia Brockmüller), “Possibilities of open-access publishing and financing at the UOL” (Kim Braun) and “PhD Roadmap for 1st-year PhDs” (Dr. Ferdinand Esser).

We would like to thank all the speakers who made this diverse program possible.
We would like to thank the Dr. Hans Riegel-Stiftung for their financial support.
