On 13.04.2023 it was that time again. Numerous pupils, teachers and interested parties came to the Chemistry Day and gained insights into the range of chemical research and its areas of application. What will the plastics of the future look like? What role does electricity play in the formation of molecules? And how can fuels be obtained from waste? The institute presented entertaining lectures, information stands, a competition for year 12 pupils and an experimental lecture on these and other exciting topics. In a festive setting, the Angelus Sala Prize was awarded to Year 10 students for outstanding achievements in chemistry and the best students of the year were honoured. The final highlight was the keynote speech ‘The future of plastics’ by Prof Dr Gert Jan Gruter, professor at the University of Amsterdam and inventor of plant-based plastic bottles.
Everyone was enthusiastic and delighted with the large number of visitors and their interest. For more impressions of this great day, take a look at our short film.
We look forward to seeing you next year! Until then, stay curious!
